정현철교수는 2006년도에 한양대학교 경영대학에 부임하였다. 한양대학교에 부임하기 전에 KT(1992-2003)와 단국대학교(2003-2006)에서 근무하였다. 한양대학교에서 경영학학사를 취득하고 미국의 죠지워싱턴대학에서 MBA를 캐나다의 McGill대학에서 재무관리전공으로 경영학박사학위를 취득하였다.

그는 재무금융분야의 재무관리, 투자론, 기업재무론, 기업가치평가 등의 과목을 학부와 대학원과정에서 강의하고 있다.

주요관심 연구분야는 이머징마켓의 자본자유화 영향, 국제자본시장의 통합화, 국제분산투자효과, 국제금융 등이다. 연구결과가 Journal of International Money and Finance, Emerging Markets Review, 경영학회지, 재무연구 등 국내외 저널에 소개되었다.
